We are currently looking for buyer to join our procurement team located at our Corporate Headquarters in Media, PA.  In this role you  will focus on materials such as fabrics, covers and corrugated, as well as indirect MRO goods and services, ranging from pumps and motors to office supplies. Your mission will be to ensure these materials are properly sourced at the most competitive price and flowing smoothly through our processes. In many cases we already have contracts and agreements, but if it's something we haven't sourced before, you'll handle sourcing and negotiations.  In addition this role will include the following responsibilities:
 

  • Facilitate the procurement of indirect materials and services (e.g. power transmission, MRO, energy, industrial gases, MRO, office supplies, travel, facility management and other professional services, etc.)
  • Responsible for all commercial activities with suppliers such as negotiating proposals and obtaining product and/or service information such as price, availability and delivery schedule.
  • Collaborate with internal customers to develop business requirements and improve processes.
  • Issue RFX's, Statements of Work, and blanket, contract or spot buy purchase orders.
  • Review bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
  • Develop and execute supplier and commodity strategies to support plant procurement and manufacturing operations.
  • Manage contract database.
  • Responsible for supplier selection, sourcing documentation and recommendations to senior management.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of procurement records in accordance with corporate guidelines.
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable materials or service levels with users, suppliers and others to determine root cause and corrective action.               

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or other related area.
  • Three to six years of purchasing experience, including raw materials and / or MRO goods and services.
  • Demonstrated creativity in identifying and capturing opportunities to control costs, enhance quality, etc.
  • Solid negotiation skills.
  • Experience with purchasing modules in major ERP systems; SAP MRP experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strategic sourcing experience including supplier management
  • History of delivering significant savings projects
  • Track record of presenting projects to senior-level management
