Position Description

We are currently looking for a Regional Project Engineer to join our Operations team in Orange, CA. This position is responsible to facilitate all project teams in the region during project design and is responsible for developing all SOW’s for the final project design, for projects including:  upgrade of service and facility relocations; identification and design of improvements intended to maintain or improve system reliability and addressing operating issues reported by facilities in the region.  The position is also responsible to facilitate and develop capital work plans including personnel needs and prioritization of work and resource assignments to meet project targets. The Regional Plant Engineer will be a key team member for all strategic planning including the budget process to develop a regional capital plan, 5 year strategic plan, and budget for the Region. The role will develop and maintain the yearly capital spending curve and corrective action plans to resolve deviations and monitor, modify and communicate changes in the plans against changing customer and internal business needs. Additionally, the position will ensure that local CAPEX processes meet divisional and corporate procedures, while monitoring capital spend performance against budget.

Additional responsibilities include the following:

  • Designs and improves processes, layouts, and specifies tools and equipment to achieve cost reductions and improve safety, quality, and overall equipment reliability; conferring with equipment vendors and soliciting observations from operators.
  • Works with vendors to source parts and to substitute OEM parts with more economical options, designing and testing improved parts, updating older electronics that are no longer supported by manufacturers to improve equipment functionality.
  • Manages capital projects including identifying scope, specifications, design, cost, milestones, and oversees installation as well as the start-up and de-bugging of new equipment for the production process.
  • Provides Quality review for documentation changes to engineering prints ensuring that manufacturing and proper engineering practices are followed.
  • Participates as a functional member of new product development teams, ensuring the application of appropriate design controls, providing technical assistance, and assuring the complete application of validation activities.
  • Project Engineering/Management (demonstrated project management skills)
  • Manage the organization and prioritization of activities of the engineering group in the region to meet expected completion dates for all design work. Work with other sections/departments on cross-functional technical and business teams, working groups or improvement committees to achieve the goals and objectives of the department and/or Company.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with customers, contractors, municipalities and distribution operations staff to assure the smooth and timely flow of work that meets the expectations for work completion.
  • Capacity monitoring and propose timely solutions,
  • Process capability improvements based on actual performance opportunities and plants targets
  • Work in other projects assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Must possess a minimum of four (4) years related experience.
  • Must have extensive, cradle to grave, project management experience.
  • Must have knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts, continuous improvement and problem solving methodologies.
  • Must have Process development and equipment functioning knowledge, key process variables, etc.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50% to support other facilities if needed.
  • Position based in Orange, CA
  • Knowledge in managing Microsoft Project Management package.
  • Autocad knowledge is a plus
